The AICP Exam is More Accessible Than Ever

Expanded Testing Window
Beginning next year, the AICP exam will be offered in a single, extended window tentatively scheduled from April through September, replacing the previous May and November cycles. This longer window gives you more flexibility to prepare, schedule, and—even if needed—retake the exam within the same cycle.

You can take the exam whenever you’re ready—whether you’re new to the field or an experienced planner. After you pass, you’ll become an AICP Candidate and may submit your Experience Assessment once you’ve earned the required experience. The assessment window is tentatively scheduled for April through November, giving you the flexibility to earn certification as soon as you complete your required professional planning experience.

AICP Exam Prep Resources
New exam prep resources have been added to the extensive collection available on the APA website. Candidates are encouraged to review all available materials, including the resources highlighted under Tip #4. The collection includes practice exams and other study tools developed by Texas A&M University.
