We are pleased to announce that the updated Nebraska Planning Handbook has been officially unveiled! This refreshed and modernized resource is designed to support communities, local officials, planners, and zoning administrators across the state.

The future quality of life in Nebraska’s communities and in the state overall depends on how well citizens make decisions that affect tomorrow. Only through sound planning practice can the future quality of life in our communities and rural areas be ensured with any degree of certainty.

The updated Nebraska Planning Handbook provides citizen planners and professional planners with easy-to-comprehend information concerning principles of community planning and the legal foundations of planning in the State of Nebraska. More specifically, the Handbook is geared primarily toward persons serving as planning commissioners, members of boards of adjustment, and elected officials in nonmetropolitan communities and rural areas, as well as anyone interested in local community and county planning.

This updated reference resource is now available to help facilitate informed citizen participation in key planning issues across our state.
